Bedfordshire Schools Local Authority Supported ICT Services

Bedfordshire Schools Local Authority Supported ICT Services

The following services are supported by Local Authority support teams to provide schools with an efficient and enhanced service above services they directly buy back.

Broadband Internet: all schools in Bedfordshire now have the DfES required standard of link (click here for more information) to the National Education Network (NEN). The focus now is on building resilience for these links. Working with E2BN (East of England Broadband Network) we can ensure that schools can achieve the Becta standards of individual phase filtered Internet service, and can make recommendations on how to get the best use of this service on your schools network.

Email is supported locally, and free accounts are available to all students and staff in Bedfordshire. Individual domain accounts are also available for a nominal setup charge. All email is filtered, spam and virus checked.

Free web hosting with a nominal set up fee.

To facilitate the move towards Learning Platforms, E2BN have also negotiated on our behalf the supply of free staff accounts on both the DigitalBrain and Netmedia portals.  Student accounts are available for an annual charge. Click here for more information on e-Learning and Learning Platforms.

To facilitate the secure transfer of IMS files between Bedford Borough Council, Central Bedfordshire and the schools we support the AVCO file transfer systems and the Xporter auto report extraction software and systems. We also provide advice on all matters concerning Information Management and data transfer.

Aspire is used widely within Bedfordshire for the calculation and transfer of Assessment data. We provide telephone support for this freely developed product.

As part of E2BN and the NEN (National Education Network) we support the provision of non subscription services and resources to all schools in Bedfordshire.
