AVCO Information Page
AVCO is a secure file transfer and encryption system. It allows schools to send certain types of files to other schools within Bedfordshire and to the LEA. The LEA can also send files direct to schools.
The current version of Avco has separate Send and Receive functions so that schools can use the Send utility just for sending files and Receive only to receive files waiting to be downloaded. Schools are alerted by email as a reminder to download files waiting to be collected and as a notification when the LA has received files sent to them by the school.
Files - The filenames are important as they provide Avco with the information it needs to send files to the correct destinations. Filenames which do not match the expected file names cannot be sent via Avco. Click here for the table of filenames currently in use (updated 01/06).
Receiving files - Avco does not alert you to the fact that there may be files waiting to be picked up by your school. Therefore, on a regular basis, you should open a call to Avco to collect any files that may be waiting for you, regardless of whether you have any files to send.
Detailed information and instructions on how to use AVCO are available from here (updated 01/06).
