IMS

Fair Process Notice
Under the obligations of the Data Protection Act, schools must inform parents about the nature of the pupil data held on their MIS, the purpose for which the data is used and to whom the data is disclosed. Schools must issue a Fair Process Notice letter, with a covering letter (see below), to parents of new pupils (sent along with New Starter Form) or to parents of existing pupils (when sending out Student Update Forms).
Schools can choose to use the short version of the FPN and make the long version available from their own school website or as a hard copy on request. Alternatively, schools can select to only issue the long version of the FPN in which case the short version of the FPN is not required.
