Bedfordshire Active Schools Award |

The Bedfordshire Active
Schools (BAS) Award
The BAS Award can provide Lower Schools with:
- a recognised quality standard award from Bedfordshire County Council
and the Healthy Schools Scheme for their Physical Education and School Sport Programme.
- a mechanism through which Lower Schools can work towards gaining a
Nationally recognised award for their Physical Education and School Sport Programme from
Sport England.
Other benefits that can be gained from your Lower
School having a BAS Award could include:
- publicly demonstrating your commitment to PE and School Sport both
within the school and the wider community.
- enabling the school to focus on good practice in physical education.
This may be useful when preparing for Ofsted.
- encouraging teachers and other adults to work in your school to
update and extend their knowledge and skills in PE and School Sport.
- highlighting the achievement of a BAS Award in your school
prospectus, annual report to parents etc.
Deadline for applications is the end of the summer
term each year so if your school is hoping to apply this year you need to start thinking
about your application soon.
If you would like further information or help completing the
application form please contact Alison Wright, Head of Youth and Community Sport or if you
would like a copy of the application pack please contact Gary Rhodes on 01234 408160.
