Environmental Group

At Silsoe we are lucky enough to have a dedicated group of parents who work extremely hard in all of our environmental areas. They work after school and at weekends to maintain the areas and also work with groups of children throughout the school so that they can learn about the plants and animals in each of the habitats.

The pond area needed lots of work this year as it had become very overgrown and many of the plants had died. A group of volunteers, organised by our committee, worked hard over a long and very wet weekend to totally transform the area.

We also have a wild area that is left for animals to find homes. It is surrounded by a willow fence that they children helped to build.

Our 'Cooks Garden' was planted in celebration of our previous headteacher, Mrs Cook, who moved on to another school.
