Fireworks Night

Silsoe Lower School joined with Wrest Park to organise a bonfire and the fireworks for this year. Great fun was had by everyone and over £600 was raised thanks to the hard work of a group of parents serving hot and cold refreshements.

In just one year, the huge amount of £11,447 was raised from events and the PTA were able to pay for lots of extras that the children have really enjoyed. Over the last two years these have included :

a new video recorder

an overhead projector and screen

redecorating the school hall

paying for coaches for all our school trips

playground equipment

a Numeracy board and resources for each class

theatre visits and performances for the whole school

a Christmas present for every child

the Millennium sewing kit

an answerphone for the office

special craft materials for Christmas

a range of new library books

a new digital camera

headphones to use with every computer

a pirate ship and trim trail on the school field

Recent events have included :

a family Beetle Drive

a Ladies Night (fashion/beauty/health)

Bonfire and Fireworks night

Christmas Bazaar

a Wooden Horse Race Night

an adult Quiz Night

the popular Summer Fayre

a May Ball - an amazing £1800 was raised !

a 70's and 80's disco which raised £600

Another recent PTA purchase has been a new Heinemann maths scheme which is being used in every class in the school.

The PTA also co-ordinated our very own book 'With Love From Us' into which every child in the school contributed a poem or a piece of writing.
