Class Three is
for year three and four children and is taught by Mrs Newman. Mrs Golder
supports in the morning and for some afternoons.
Class three learned about travelling, transport and movement as their topic for last term and did doing lots of exciting things including making model cars, writing stories about a flying carpet and finding out about ways of travelling long ago.
Below is an example of some drawings and writing by two children in the class. They wrote about how cars had changed and developed.
The Earliest Motorcar Hundreds of years ago, there were very few cars on the road. In 1885 Karl Benz built the first car with a petrol engine. It had three wheels and travelled at 13 kph. For many years only rich people could afford to buy a car. There wasn't much traffic in 1885. Rich people paid chauffeurs to drive them around the city.

More Modern Cars
More cars became cheaper in 1908 and more factories were built. Henry Ford started the first factory in 1908 which made cars more cheaper for people, which meant more people could buy cars. Still not many people bought cars. It was a bit more cosy then in 1885. By now the tyres were made of rubber and people took driving tests.

Cars Today
Now people have more than 2 cars to there is a lot of traffic nowadays. Every car now has a roof and even more people buy cars and have seatbelts. In 1885 or 190 they didn't have or the cars weren't as cosy as our cars today. The cars fo much faster than in 1885 and 1908. More people have more driving tests than in 1908.
