THE 14 – 19 PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMME

INTRODUCTION OF DIPLOMAS

This is an exciting time in the development of 14-19 education. The introduction of the Diploma is only one of a large number of reforms that include the new secondary curriculum.

Diplomas are qualifications that will provide an exciting, stretching and relevant programme of learning for all young people.

The Diploma has a common structure across all 14 lines of learning to give learners’ similar experiences and opportunities whatever and wherever they are studying.

Target Group:

Anyone with an interest in learning more about the Diplomas.

PREPARING TO TEACH THE 14-19 YEAR OLD STUDENT

For this age group and in particular the 14-16 year old student it is vital that tutors try to ‘get it right first time’ to support and encourage the engagement and retention of students, particularly the more challenging students.

This course is designed to create innovative ways of delivery and planning, to inspire and enthuse the younger student in promoting a positive learning environment. It is intended that this session will lead to collaboration between schools and organisations in sharing ideas, resources and expertise.

Target Group:

Tutors, Learning/training Providers, and anyone delivering or supporting the 14-19 curriculum.

ACCESS FOR ALL

Students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities are a diverse group of people with a wide range of abilities and needs. Tutors who have had no previous experience of working with students with a disability or learning difficulty can feel insecure about how to respond to a disabled student.

This course is designed to help tutors to identify and address the individual needs of the students and develop confidence in the delivery and planning of the curriculum.

Target Group:

Tutors, Learning/training Providers, Support Staff, Managers and anyone wishing to develop their knowledge and understanding in this area.

UPDATE FOR TEACHERS/TUTORS/LEARNING PROVIDERS

The 14-19 Partnership is working with schools, Colleges and other Providers in developing the delivery of the new Diplomas. This session is designed to inform, update and provide answers to develop knowledge and understanding of the diplomas, as well as supporting the process of curriculum design and delivery.

Target Group:

Heads of Curriculum, Section Leaders, Teachers, Learning Providers, Employers and Support Staff.

UPDATE FOR GOVERNORS

The 14-19 Partnership is supporting the transformation of secondary education so that all young people achieve to their potential and continue in structured learning.

The Diploma is the most significant new suite of qualifications. The Diploma is an employer-designed qualification offered at three levels in 14 broad employment sectors, enabling innovative ways of organising teaching and learning.

This session will provide Governors with an overview of the Diploma gateway process, and inform on the current position of the Bedfordshire Consortiums.

Target Group:

Governors wanting to learn more about the 14-19 Partnership and education developments.
