GOVERNOR TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

INFORMATION ON TRAINING AVAILABLE

There is a clear link between a good school and an effective governing body. So whether you are a newly appointed governor or an ‘old hand’ there will be something in our training programme for you.

Our course programme reflects the dialogue that the Local Authority maintains with its governors through the Bedfordshire Governors’ Consultation Group (BGCG) and individual Training Link Governors.

Training is provided at no cost to the individual governor. Governing Bodies can purchase a subscription which gives unlimited access to the programme, or they may decide to purchase courses on an ‘ad hoc’ basis.

We are delighted to be able to offer governors of subscribing schools an exciting new training and development opportunity. In partnership with the Eastern Leadership Centre, we can offer access to an online learning site which complements, not replaces, face-to-face training. Users can study modules, at their convenience, take an online learning review and monitor their learning process.

Modules currently available online include:

  • Roles and responsibilities of school governors

  • Every Child Matters

  • National Training Programme for new governors

  • Health and Safety

  • Taking the Chair

  • Performance Management in Education – The Governors’ Role

  • Monitoring Performance Data and Targets
