INFORMATION ON TRAINING AVAILABLE

Title: Conciliation and Negotiation Skills – positive meetings with parents

Venues:

Priory Methodist Church, Newnham Avenue Bedford

Rufus Centre, Flitwick

Time: Coffee 0915 hours, Course 0930 to 1600 hours

(This is a one day course that will be offered on a number of dates)

No. of places: 12 per course

Facilitator / Trainer: Parent Partnership Service and colleagues from Local Authority support services. This training was commissioned for the Eastern Region and has been successfully rolled out across the region.

Target Group: Sencos, Headteachers, Pastoral Heads and others who meet with parents/carers of children with SEN

Aims and Outcomes: To empower staff to manage communication effectively and to avoid conflict

You will cover how to:

prepare for difficult meetings and ensure maximum chances for success
start a conversation to ensure a positive and constructive climate
challenge ideas and contributions without alienating people who provide them
actively listen to others to ensure you understand their viewpoint
handle different types of situations including ‘difficult’ people
handle objections and awkward situations

Cost: FREE (£60 will be charged for non-attendance)
