INFORMATION ON TRAINING AVAILABLE

Return to Teach is a course sponsored by the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) and delivered by Bedfordshire Local Authority. The course is open to non-serving teachers with QTS who plan to return to teaching. Training bursaries and childcare/carer support are available. Participants must have been out of teaching for over 12 months when enrolling on a returners course and have registered with the TDA through their website (www.tda.gov.uk).

This is an excellent professional development opportunity which will update participants on the current initiatives and issues in school and is designed to give encouragement and confidence to return to the classroom. We have a very good success rate!

The programme will take place during the Autumn Term at the Bedfordshire Education Centre at Priory Business Park in Bedford. The programme will include the topics listed below:

  • National curriculum updates, The National Agenda

  • Teaching of literacy, numeracy, ICT

  • Science, technology & foundation subjects, Citizenship

  • Behaviour management

  • Meeting individual needs, SEN, Able and Gifted

  • Child Protection, Health & Safety

  • School Self Evaluation & Ofsted, job applications, Performance Management

There will also be a school placement.

There are 18 places available and it is envisaged that places will be allocated by the end of the Summer Term. The selection process includes interviews which will be held in June.
