INFORMATION ON TRAINING AVAILABLE


The School of Education seeks to provide opportunities for people who have the aspiration and potential to meet the needs of all children and young people and to help them develop and achieve.

 

Taster courses (3 days) for those who wish to find out more about teaching Employment-based Initial Teacher Training (EBITT) programmes that allow trainees to work in a school and follow an individual training programme leading to qualified teacher status (QTS).

 

MA in Education Leadership and Management & Effective Learning and Teaching routes

This is a flexible course with a variety of modules, including NQT, subject knowledge and leadership options, enabling you to create and study a personalised programme. It is intended for educational professionals at all stages of their career, from NQTs to Headteachers.

 

Qualifications in Mentoring

If you are mentoring you will have the opportunity to further develop your knowledge and skills through focused training, on-going reflection and shared good practice.


Foundation Degree in Educational Practice - Teaching Assistants

This offers you a route into a professional career if working in an educational setting. It is a two year programme which runs on a day release basis.

 

We aim to respond quickly to national and local initiatives and individual or learning network/cluster needs. We design flexible programmes and delivery patterns to meet school and LA requirements and our key aim is to work in partnership to support high quality teaching, learning and school improvement. Our expertise includes:

LA NQT programme

 

Course Title: Induction Programme 2 half days (2 additional half days)

 

Dates: 3 February 2009 4.30pm to 7.30pm or 5 February 2009 1.00pm to 4.00pm

MA Workshop

• Evaluation of teaching to identify areas for development and best practice

• Sharing of learning/teaching strategies for different classrooms

• Identification of a range of strategies to support own teaching

 

LA NQT programme

 

Course Title: Induction Programme Day 3

 

NQT MA Module delivery

 

Part of the day will include presentation work by those who have completed the M-level module, allowing for dissemination of impact and sharing of good practice.
