Looked After Children: Statutory LAC Reviews and the New Personal Education Plan

 

Target Audience: Designated Teachers for Looked after Children, Education Welfare Officers, School Improvement Partners, Educational Psychologists, Assessment and Monitoring, any other education supporting services, Social Work team managers and key staff, foster carers, residential care home staff, LAC Education Team and Review Managers.

 

Course Aims:

To update participants on:

  • Looked After Children review of arrangements process, including the roles and responsibilities of all professionals.

  • The new Personal Education Plan format and processes, including the roles and responsibilities of all professionals (including foster carers) to raise the educational achievement of LAC and ensure a multi-agency approach, around the needs and views of the child/young person.

Learning Intentions:

  • Raising awareness of pertinent issues, including government & local government legislation & guidance

  • Building participant’s knowledge about best professional practice, including LAC policies/procedures

  • To enable participants to be able to take an active part in the Looked After Children Review and support high quality Personal Education Plans for children in care

Outline of the session(s)

The session will be a mixture of (a) formal presentation (b) interactive discussion, with time available at the end of each session for participant’s questions. Handouts will be available, to supplement the presentation.

 

Dates : 4th June 09.30-12.30 , 2nd July 13.30 -16.30

 

24th September 09.30-16.30, 15th October 09.30-16.30
